Being more environmentally or eco friendly is becoming more and more important. Improving the way we treat our environment and doing what we can to prevent it any harm is becoming a huge focus in day to day living.
So, how can you be eco-friendlier?
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Reducing, reusing and recycling are key to reducing the amount of waste we are creating. When recycling, think about what items can be reused for other purposes and what items can be recycled, such as glass, paper, plastic and cans.
Conserve water and electricity
It takes energy to produce fresh water and electricity so by doing some simple things you can help to reduce your daily energy consumption. Think about turning lights off if you arenโt in a room, use as much of the natural daylight as you can, fix any water leaks youโve spotted, properly insulate your home and so on.
Plant more trees
Trees are one of the most important things on the planet โ they offer us oxygen, fruits, timber and importantly shelter our wildlife. With deforestation on the up there is more of a need to educate people on the adverse effect this has on our planet and why we need to be planting more.
Drive less, walk more
One step you can take to a more eco friendly lifestyle is walking or taking public transport for your daily commute or if you live near another colleague you could even reduce your carbon footprint by car sharing.
Buy energy efficient products
Energy efficient products consumer less energy than non-eco friendly products. For instance, energy saving light bulbs can often last up to 10 times longer than traditional bulbs.
Buy locally grown produce
By shopping at your local market, greengrocer, butcher or baker, youโre more likely to be purchasing foods straight of the press, plus there is likely to be much less non environmentally friendly packaging such as polystyrene and plastics.
Just some small changes could go a long way so these tips are all well worth considering implementing into your every day life.
