There are a number of factors that make for a great self-care routine. You may not be able to squeeze all of them into a busy working day but even just introducing a couple could make the world of difference.
Reflect on your day
This doesn’t have to intrude too much on your evening, but it’s good to take some time to consider how your day has gone. A journal is a great tool to do this.
You can jot down some of the stresses of the day, list out your accomplishments and even use it as a to do list for anything you might have forgotten.
Remove technology
It’s good to get away from your phone screen a couple of hours before you sleep as this will help your mind switch off before you’re due to go to sleep.
Pamper Yourself
Treat yourself to a little more ‘me’ time. Take a long soak, put on a face mask and light some candles. It creates an element of rejuvenation and allows you to forget some of the stresses of the day.
Eat something delicious and nutritious
The types of food you eat can impact the way your feeling. Choose something healthy to cook up – even if you’re not the biggest fan of fruit and veg there’s plenty of scrummy things to make that still include them.
Socialise
Surround yourself with the people you love - partner, friends or family. You could create a list of activities you’d love to do or even a list of restaurants you’d love to visit and begin ticking them off in the process.
Declutter
Decluttering enables you to get rid of the things you no longer need. Decluttering can also be used as an opportunity to identify the things you own that give you joy.
